this is so beautiful. I am trying to work on my sunset photos with and without people. I am struggling with my foreground being so dark when I try to get my sunset lighting right. Do you do a lot of editing on your foreground to brighten it up?

I totally understand your frustration! I have always struggled with that, as well. It is difficult to accomplish in camera, for me also. This is an edited photograph. I photographed the church on a boring, grey, overcast day and found this sunset clouds in my stock and replaced the dreary sky. I did spend a ton of time on it. I also removed some ugly, annoying trees:) I have brightened up the foreground on some images and they turn out just ok. Thank you so much for the compliment!

Thanks Alanasisk for your honesty and information cause there is a lot of people that would have said that they took one photo and just brightened the foreground up. Almost Impossible in my own opinion that you get a perfect shot just like this one, but there is people that would love to try to fool everyone and say that they did it one shot. Thanks again and this is a gorgeous shot

No way would I try to say this is something that it is not. I am a terrible liar, anyway. I totally agree that even an untrained photographer can spot an obvious edited photograph a mile away! Wishing you a wonderful New Year and hope that 2016 treats you well:)

Holy Smokes! I recognized the church. Was driving from NW Iowa to DesMoines taking back country roads...didn't have my camera ready but kept the image in my mind and then came across this! Thank You

I don't know if you read in "Behind the Lens" of this photograph, but this is comprised of two images...it was a dreary day and new I had to replace the sky with something more beautiful:) Thank you for commenting and have a wonderful beautiful weekend!
