A special thanks to friend and professional photographer Forrest Mankins for his collaboration as a guest judge: "My name is Forrest Mankins. I’m an outdoor lifestyle + adventure photographer and film producer based in Portland, Oregon. My latest project, forthcoming documentary “A Life Alive” lead me on a 6 month, 20,000+ mile road trip from my roots in the midwestern U.S. to the arctic circle in Alaska and back. My passion lies in the joy of the journey, and my photography comes from the desire to tell the stories that happen along the way."

Grand Jury Winner

"This is really a great shot - the composition is there, and same again for the light/weather conditions. You can’t turn a poor composition into a great shot, but it’s often just as common for a great composition to be undermined by poor post processing. I love everything about this image, from the smooth shadows to the complimentary off shades of red/orange with blue/purple, the post work as a whole is as well done as the original image. Very well done!" - Forrest Mankins

Runner Up

"Everything about this photo seems surreal. The colors give a sense of time (fall, early spring), and there’s an intriguing mood present.  I love moody photos as they have a way of better translating the photographer’s vision." - Forrest Mankins

Runner Up

"This image is all about premeditation in my mind. From waiting for the right light balance between shadows and highlights, shooting at an appropriate focal length to compress the trees into a wall of leading lines, and being careful in post to keep the ethereal quality delicate as it should be, this photo is an illustration of thought and execution." - Forrest Mankins

Runner Up

"Wildlife photography is an immensely difficult pursuit with many hours and days going into just getting one image. There are times when it all comes together such as in this photo. The expression is amazing, locking eyes with the photographer. Add in the snow and beautiful background and it’s really something amazing. " - Forrest Mankins
