Beautiful capture! Use to climb over there 40 years ago. Beautiful sandstone tovers.

Location
This photo was taken in an area called Bohemian Paradise in the Czech Republic. It is a 182 square kilometer nature reserve north-eastward from Prague. I was lucky enough to visit with a friend who knew the area.Time
This was taken about mid-day. We spent a lot of time walking around the base of the sandstone rocks before venturing up the steps to get a view from above, There had not been any rain for several weeks before this was taken so the paths were very dusty. Also the image was taken in early November so autumnal colours were still in the trees & bushes.Lighting
The stones gave off a mysterious feel & I wanted to keep that effect, drawing the viewer into the image & up the steps. At the base of the stones we were in shadow but as you climbed up the light beckoned you forwardEquipment
This was taken on my old Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 (I've since upgraded to the FZ2000). I'm a very lazy photographer & like to travel very light so normally it's just my camera.Inspiration
The whole valley was so interesting & I took many photos that day. This one stood out with the steps disappearing beyond the foliage which just begs you to follow them.Editing
On the day I took this there was a very grey sky which caused the grey stones to almost disappear towards the top so I have darkened the sky to make the stones 'pop out'. It has also had the effect of elongating the stones to make them look even taller. In my camera bag
As I said earlier I am a very lazy photographer. I usually only carry my camera. I like the Panasonic's as they are lightweight & I can carry it around all day without any problems so that usually the only bit of kit I take out.Feedback
When you see something that captures your attention just go for it. On this day I took so many images & it wasn't until I got home & started to go through them that this one just grabbed me. I didn't spend a lot of time over thinking the composition, if I had I don't think I would have got this shot. I did worry about the sky at the time but once I added the darker sky it made such a difference.
