Location
This shot was taken at Paignton Zoo in Devon, England.Time
It was taken just after 10am in the morning when the zoo had just opened.Lighting
Chinta was in a great position in the enclosure with the light catching the foliage behind her. This helps to capture her red colouring much better. I would have liked just a little more light on her face.Equipment
I used a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150. It's a nice light weight camera & easy to carry around all day.Inspiration
I wanted to get a picture of baby Natalia in as natural a setting as possible. I was lucky on this occasion that the pair were sitting in a part of the enclosure where there are no fences or man made structures showing.Editing
I adjusted the exposure slightly to try to brighten Chinta's face as it was in shadow. In my camera bag
I travel very light. I always have my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 with me. I have a tripod in my car which very rarely comes out.Feedback
Because I went to the zoo to get images of the baby orang, I made sure I was at the zoo as it opened in the morning. I then went straight to the Orang's enclosure which is furthest away from the entrance. As most people slowly work their way around the zoo, I had about 45mins with the Orangs before anyone else appeared. This meant we had peace & quite for that time & Chinta was quiet happy to stay within view. As people arrived & noise levels rose, she took baby Natalia into the bushes out of sight. So, if you have a particular animal/bird you are trying to capture go straight to that enclosure & make the most of any alone time.
