Grand Jury Winner

"As i am specialized in photomontages myself i love the technically flawless realization and the attention to detail in this image. Although you see a lot of "floating people images" recently i think this one is special and stands out from the crowd. As this image is called "Falling Asleep" it maybe is a reference to the sensation of falling which a lot of us will have witnessed when drifting off. So we have great storytelling and great photography as well as really good retouching skills in this image. Overall perfect work! " - Lasse Behnke

Finalist

"I really love the story the image shows with the American Indian praying on the hill, facing the sun. Reminds me of some books about the wild west, i read in my childhood.  Also i like the overall composition of the picture with the "spotlight" on the guy in this breathtaking landscape with the sun perfectly over the edge of the mountain and the calm clouds in the valley. It looks like a painting, and with that i do not mean the filtered pictorial look which i think would not have been necessary. Nevertheless this one is a really strong work for me. " - Lasse Behnke

Finalist

"The storytelling is extremely strong in this one and by looking at the picture my head immediately starts to create a story about a young boy who has lost everything due to the fire and has to live on his own from now on. Thats just my interpretation but i think there is a lot of room to tell exciting tales about this image. I am also a big fan of the light-dark contrast and the silhouette look of this work because it makes the picture kind of mysterious and even more fascinating. Furthermore we have very harmonic colors with the orange and blue complementary contrast here. The photographer knows his craft! " - Lasse Behnke

Finalist

"Actually i noticed this picture or rather the story in of this picture only when i looked over the finalists the second time, but then it struck me immediately.
You can almost feel the pain of this old woman who probably lost her son. The title "The Pain That Never Goes Away" describes it perfectly. And in my eyes
the black space around the main subject supports the story very well. Powerful and touching image! " - Lasse Behnke
