Rugged Landscapes Photo Contest Winners
Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best rocky landscape shots in the Rugged Landscapes Photo Contest with chances to win a Win Canon 5D MK III and more!
A special thanks to our friend and professional photographer Chuck Jason for his collaboration as a guest judge in this photo contest. My name is Chuck and I'm a landscape photographer based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The love of nature instilled in me the spirit to explore and travel. Photography first started out as a hobby and eventually became a lifetime passion of chasing the light, venturing to far and remote places with the goal of capturing that fleeting precious moment frozen in time by my camera. The products of some of my adventures and journeys are illustrated by photographs featured in books of The American Landscape 2016, +One Collection 2012, Outdoor Photographer magazine, Landscape Photographer magazine and Really Right Stuff catalog depicting the beautiful landscapes of the American Southwest.
"I have seen many photographs of Moraine Lake but none so far have captured the mood and light as in this image. Great composition with the foreground rocks anchoring and leading my eyes to some of the rugged peaks that make up the Valley of Ten Peaks in Banff National Park. I would definitely classify this as a rugged landscape with each of those peaks reaching well over 10,000 feet. Sharp focus front to back, beautiful reflection, soft sky and did I mention the light, it’s a photographer’s dream! Congratulations on your epic image, Jason Darr. Nice work!" - Chuck Jason
"Such an awesome shot! With the ruggedness of Mt. Rainier and the Milky Way. I know this shot took some planning and shivering but I’m sure it’s well worth it if it netted results such as this crafted and spectacular image. Beautiful, sharp focus, well planned and executed! Great work!" - Chuck Jason
"What a spectacular view of the Fossardalur valley and the second tallest Icelandic waterfall, Haifoss. I liked the soft illumination from the sun hidden behind the dark foreboding clouds, the certainly rugged terrain and beautiful green foreground. This image has gorgeous soft light and nicely saturated colors. Great eye and capture!" - Chuck Jason
