When heat and cold break down the littoral, water polishes the stones round and makes pebbles, ever so gently.
Then it rubs the pebbles together, ever so gently, and creates sand.
Wind and waves and currents carry the sand to the bottom, and make layers upon layers upon layers, the weight of every new one pressing down upon the previous...
Deep down in the billion years' worth of compressed sand layers and dark heat, a rock grows.
When the Spirit of Earth moves in its sleep, it might push the new rock up to the surface and show it to Water, Wind, and Fire, the one that keeps it all going in circles.
