Many new cameras have inbuilt timers for time-lapse shooting, and if you're interested in this, check for that feature too. Otherwise, the accessory contact often allows this function via some external timer, so maybe your current camera can already be enabled for time-lapse photography? These things are not expensive, and the resuts can be quite interesting, day or night. There are also some good freeware photo-stacking programs to look up. Enjoy!
