Behind The Lens

Location
We took this picture in our living room, in front of a simple backdrop.
Time
We had started early in the morning preparing the photoshoot. We first had to install and paint the bald cap before the makeup artist would arrive. We did it together, as the usual team and couple we are. :) By the time the makeup was done and the first shot was taken, we were already in the afternoon.
Lighting
We only had a beauty dish in the front, and a flash behind, to light up the backdrop from the ground.
Equipment
We used our Canon EOS 6D, a Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, and Godox AD600 as well as Godox AD200 flashes.
Inspiration
Marc-André (photographer in our team) had challenged Carolyn (model in our team) to do a photoshoot with a bald head, which she accepted with enthusiasm. Then, the idea of making it rich by using golden elements and even liquid gold on the lips came and from that starting point, the makeup artist contributed to the project with her own creativity.
Editing
It was mostly about doing beauty retouching, working on the tones, creating a smooth and natural junction between the bald cap and the skin, adding some skin texture to the bald cap, and completing with some dodge and burn.
In my camera bag
We always have our Canon 24-105 mm, a Tamron wide angle, a Sigma 50 mm 1.4 Art, a Canon 50 mm Macro, a trigger Godox, and extra batteries!
Feedback
Don’t be too rigid with the basic rules in photography (rules about composition, lighting, etc.); as long as you do what you like and find it interesting, you are doing the right thing! :) You may also explore, go further in your ideas and creativity, add complexity and even discomfort to your projects. All these elements will surely give a special and unusual twist to your pictures.
