Location
There was this noise barrier along a highway nearby our home that, at a very specific time during the fall season, the leaves became a rich and beautiful red. We waited patiently almost a whole year to have the perfect colors in the leaves and we did this photo, with all these cars passing by in an incessant din. Hard to believe for an image with such serenity!Time
It was in the morning, as we like shooting early in the day.Lighting
The picture was taken in natural light, the most beautiful light to do fine art photography, in our opinion.Equipment
We used our Canon EOS R camera, and a Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.Inspiration
This huge wall of vegetation offered us the possibility to give the viewer the impression of an enveloping garden. We wanted to have something magical and beautiful so Carolyn (the model, creative director and costume creator of the duo) thought of a character that would be floating in the air, nestled in the leaves, in a soft and quiet mood, where all the colors (the model's hair, the outfit, the vegetation, etc.) would be harmonious and warm. Therefore, she created this soft green outfit specifically for this project.Editing
As we wanted to play with the impression the model was floating in the air, Carolyn was actually standing on one foot on a stool (each leg was photographed separately, standing alternately on the stool), both floating legs then combined in the final image. Marc-André (the photographer and retoucher of the duo) filled the spaces in the image where there was vegetation missing, to create a real enveloping environment. In my camera bag
We always have our Canon 24-105 mm used for this photo, a Tamron wide angle, a Sigma 50 mm 1.4 Art, a Canon 50 mm Macro, a trigger Godox, and extra batteries!Feedback
Explore, go further in your ideas and creativity, add complexity and unusual to your projects. Preparation is also important; don’t skip on the details. And don’t be afraid to put yourselves in uncomfortable environments for your shots! It will give them uniqueness and surely a « Wow! » effect.
