Location
It was at a small airport about an hour from our home, where this beautiful old aircraft had been parked permanently for years. We contacted his owner to ask his permission to take pictures in front of it.Time
It was in the morning, on a very windy, rainy and so cold day! Marc-André, the photographer of our duo, had a broken finger and his injury in the cold was really painful. But this very particular temperature was certainly going to give a different and very interesting atmosphere to the scene, so it was worth to suffer some discomfort!Lighting
Marc-André wanted to use flashes but the wind was so strong that they would not hold in place, risking breaking at any moment. So we decided to work in natural light, despite the very low light.Equipment
This photo was taken two years ago and at that time we were still using our Canon 6D, and the lens used was a Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM.Inspiration
We could see this beautiful vintage plane from the highway that we used often and we absolutely had to make a photo concept with it! One day, Carolyn, the model and creative director of our duo, had this idea of ??a flight attendant from another era, rushing to board the plane before take off. Therefore, she created the entire look and staged the character. She too was really cold in her little uniform and her nylon stockings, in the strong wind and rain!Editing
Marc-André accentuated the stormy sky to make it even more dramatic and added an effect to play with the tones, thus making the scene look even more vintage. In my camera bag
We always have our Canon 24-105 mm used for this photo, a Tamron wide angle, a Sigma 50 mm 1.4 Art, a Canon 50 mm Macro, a trigger Godox, and extra batteries!Feedback
Don’t be afraid to put yourselves in uncomfortable environments for your shots! Explore, go further in your ideas and creativity, add complexity and unusual to your projects. All these elements will surely give a special twist to your pictures.
