As opposed to the anchor in the other photo, old ropes found in or near the sea are not to be used nor trusted - whatever the material. You never know how long these have been used before, what level of stress was endured, how long they've been there exposed to the elements. What these ropes can be used for is decoration - and as a photo theme. Material is hemp, a form much longer popular than marijuana. ;)
