Adriatic black and blue depths of maybe -60 meters. My diving buddy fired a shot at something interesting. I opened the shutter at B position, trying to capture his action.

For those new to photography, the B setting keeps the (mainly analog) camera shutter open for as long as you hold the button pressed. When the button is released, the shutter closes. On some cameras there was even the way to lock the shutter open for several hours, if needed.

No such thing with most digital cameras, as this eats a lot of battery power, and heats up the sensor (producing noise).

By the way... the B does not stand for" Bulb". Someone made up that misleading mnemonic much later. Originally, it stands for "Beliebig", which is German for "at will" or "any exposure duration you wish".

Thank you, and yes, once your eyes get used to the "dark", you can even distinguish fine detail, because even where the camera only sees black and deep blue, the eyes are a thousand times more sensitive.
