This is how dragonflies look like for the largest part of their lives. Before they appear in the form we're familiar with, they may spend up to four years underwater as dreaded predators.
When larva climbs up out of the water, it metamorphs into a beautiful flying insect which has only several more months to live - and a lot to accomplish in short time!
