An archery-related accessory used to guesstimate distances to targets of known size. However, once the proper distance has been established, the actual shooting alignment should be transferred to whatever primary sighting system the bow has been tuned to; pins, red-dot, lens, etc.
So this accessory is-was usually attached above the regular bowsight.
Since the advent of cheap and accurate laser distance-measuring optics, it is very rare to see this in use.
