Spiky thistle against Sunlight shows off its beauty, further embellished by gossamer. Contrary to general public opinion, weed is both beautiful and useful. Cosmetic industry and pharmacy readily exploit it for a long time already.

Location
I found this trio long ago on the archery training range in Zagreb (Croatia). At the far end of the range there was a great big heap of earth that we used as a safety arrow stopper. It was impassable for the lawn mower, and so overgrown in weed. During the break in the practice, I used to wander around with the camera, enjoying such details.Time
It was so long ago that I can't possibly remember, but it was more probably than not some Summer Sunday, and before 8AM, as I liked to come to the range early and practice shooting against the Sun. Such experience comes useful later, in 3D competitions!Lighting
Pure sunlight, nothing else. Morning sun adds that special flavor to the colors and minute shadows on your object.Equipment
The camera was an Olympus Stylus II. which was almost always in the quiver pocket on such occasions. Just the camera, nothing more.Inspiration
Looking for small objects, one learns to look for small detail in those, and the texture in this kind of light is always attractive.Editing
Since it was shot on film (Fujichrome Sensia, 100 ASA), the frame had to be scanned, and the final file post-processed. I am sure I've hd to crop the original some to get at this layout, but can't possibly recall what else I did. Anyway, it was not much. Olympus and Fujichrome did the good job right up front! In my camera bag
To me it is easier to carry a photo vest than any photo bag. So I load my photo vest with whatever I might need for my photo session, walk or trip. My photo bags usually keep the equipment I'm not using at the moment. To my archery practice sessions I carried the small cameras such as this small Oly Stylus.Because of its practicability and weight, it was always along. The vest's many pockets usually contain two cameras, spare batteries, ND and CPL filters, and one small photo clamp instead of a tripod. Sometimes I'll include a small action camera, mainly for its wide field of view and resistance to water and weather. The vest has large-lens pockets that holds a small water bottle, a sandwich, or a bar of chocolate if I plan on being out for the whole day. There is about three meters length of paracord or similar strong, thin rope, one hefty pocket knife, and a lighter. With these, much can be "mcgyvered" along the way, so that's all I need. Recently I make it even more comfortable for me, and take the essentials along in a waist pouch. Simplicity and comfort; two best ingredients in most situations!Feedback
Whatever you do, wherever you go, always have a camera along; never mind which type and model! A missed opportunity can be heavier than the camera weight!
