Location
Near the place where I live. It is fairly well reed-lined coast, with several boardwalks in the clearings where the boats are tied in the summertime. The place is named Elen Kamen.Time
16:03:06, which in December is almost an evening.Lighting
Late winter daylight, dominated with sunset hues. No added light.Equipment
SONY F-828, an old and trustworthy camera that was before its time when it was created - and still offers some features the modern cameras do not have (worth looking it up!)Inspiration
The graphic content of the scenery. The coastline and wave horizontals against the reedstalks, and the boardwalk shooting into the "order" from another angle.Editing
Nothing outside of the usual routine stuff. In my camera bag
Photo jacket with two cameras, and some filters: a Skylight, a CPL, and a stack of three NDs. Spare batteries. Some memory cards. Cigarettes, lighter, pocket knife. A piece of reflective foil. Some rope. Things I can improvise with...Feedback
Late in the day it pays to have a tripod, as the exposure times will be lengthy. If you don't have a tripod, have at least a plastic bag. You can fill it with sand or earth for an impromptu bean-bag. If you have a length of cord, make two loops on either end. Leave a length equal to your height between the ends! Put your foot in one loop and your camera-holding hand in another. Grip the camera and lift it against the stretch of the cord; it will stabilize your shot significantly! Try it sometimes.
