I never liked vases, because those represent the tradition of human selfishness. Keeping flowers in a vase means that a life was senselessly extinguished, just to "have something that looks pretty".
Luckily, ever more people understand that the cut or torn-off plant is just a corpse, so maybe this primitivism has a chance to cease. The only proper way to enjoy flowers is to observe them in the Great Outdoors.

I've never heard anyone else express this very same view I have. It was always hard to understand why I felt so odd not to want flowers. Kudos for the photo capture and your description.

Location
This photo was made in Rasa, a small township in Istra (Croatia) in the local church.Time
Date/Time of the original is 22-Mar-09 09:19:36, while walking around in the church in Rasa (Istra, Croatia).Lighting
The photo was made on fully Auto setting, and the camera chose the shutter speed of 1/125 sec, aperture f/5.6, with ISO 64 and no change to eV. The Metering Mode on Auto was, of course "Pattern", the flash did not fire. Focal Length was 4.6 mm. And the SuperZoom did a good job.Equipment
Olympus SP570UZ was at hand, and the photo was shot thus; with no other equipment.Inspiration
Well, I do not like vases any better than coffins, and always think how selfish people are; killing beautiful plants just to have these wilting slowly in someone's place, instead of living its natural life in the open. So you might say it was a sort of negative inspiration (or desperation) upon seeing it in the church, of all places, where there should be some other ways of understanding life. Wishful thinking, I know... people there understand just as little as any other people anywhere else. But that's another story.Editing
Just some cropping and possibly some local shadows lifting... Nothing overly significant. In my camera bag
To me it is easier to carry a photo vest than any photo bag. So I load my photo vest with whatever I might need for my photo session, walk or trip. My photo bags usually keep the equipment I'm not using at the moment. The vest's many pockets usually contain two cameras, spare batteries, ND and CPL filters, and one small photo clamp instead of a tripod. Sometimes I'll include a small action camera, mainly for its wide field of view and resistance to water and weather. The vest has large-lens pockets that holds a small water bottle, a sandwich, or a bar of chocolate if I plan on being out for the whole day. There is about three meters length of paracord or similar strong, thin rope, one hefty pocket knife, and a lighter. With these, much can be "mcgyvered" along the way, so that's all I need. Recently I make it even more comfortable for me, and take the essentials along in a waist pouch. Simplicity and comfort; two best ingredients in most situations!Feedback
With this one, my advice would be to use any motivation to make photos, even those that you think of as negative. It is among other things, a good exercise which you might want to think about as "trying to make something nice even from a bad thing".
