Behind The Lens

Location

This is a classic shot from Arches National Park. This was in January as evidenced by the snow.

Time

I shot this at dawn. Yes, it was cold.

Lighting

The shot works based on time of day. The long light is only available at dawn. I think you can get equally fun light at sunset.... but short of the beginning and end of the day, you wont be getting a dramatic shot here.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon Z7ii and a 14-24 ƒ/2.8. I used a tripod.... but thats it!

Inspiration

I have seen a lot of versions of this image- it is a popular image to take. Since I got there in winter (for this trip at least- I go here all the time) I wanted to show the time of year to give iot some uniqueness.

Editing

Very little. I mean basic stuff in the Lightroom, but this doesn't really need anything- it's awesome SooC.

In my camera bag

This day, I just had the basic camera and lens. There is some tricky hiking so I did not need (or want) much else.

Feedback

First you need to have an image in your head you are chasing. Then think about what YOU need to do to make that image..... what light do you want? What angle do you want? What lens should you use? You need to know all this going in.
