Behind The Lens

Location

I made this photo not 200 meters from the house, because the light and weather conditions were interesting enough for a short stroll.

Time

Date/Time of original was 18-Dec-2019 at 12:41:14

Lighting

Here you are: Shutter Speed:1/800 sec, F-Number: f/2.8, ISO 100, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00 eV, Metering Mode: Pattern, Flash Automatic Did not fire, Focal Length 4.5 mm

Equipment

An excellent choice for wet weather, my Olympus TG-2, which I usually use while snorkeling but which is also nicely impervious to all kinds of inclement weather condition.

Inspiration

The day was eerie, to say it simply, and since Macedonia is normally known to have over 300 sunny days, this was something special. And so inspirational per se.

Editing

Can't say that I did, as the image looks pretty much like what I saw, so I'll say it's like straight-out-of-camera. Or maybe I have cropped the scene somewhat; hard to say nowadays...

In my camera bag

To me it is easier to carry a photo vest than any photo bag. So I load my photo vest with whatever I might need for my photo session, walk or trip. My photo bags usually keep the equipment I'm not using at the moment. The vest's many pockets usually contain two cameras, spare batteries, ND and CPL filters, and one small photo clamp instead of a tripod. Sometimes I'll include a small action camera, mainly for its wide field of view and resistance to water and weather. The vest has large-lens pockets that holds a small water bottle, a sandwich, or a bar of chocolate if I plan on being out for the whole day. There is about three meters length of paracord or similar strong, thin rope, one hefty pocket knife, and a lighter. With these, much can be "mcgyvered" along the way, so that's all I need. Recently I make it even more comfortable for me, and take the essentials along in a waist pouch. Simplicity and comfort; two best ingredients in most situations!

Feedback

If the weather does not look ideal, don't let that make you stay home! Every weather is a photographing weather, because of that specially different light it will offer. But if you feel uneasy to take along your expensive equipment, note that the cameras such as the TG-# series will be just right. Translated... always try to also have a camera that can ignore rain, snow, mud, dust and similar adverse circumstances.
