Location
This was on the shore of Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. Thats Utah....Time
Obviously, this was sunset. More important than time of day is time of year. This only happens for a couple days in winter (if it happens at all- there is no guarantees in this business!). You have to keep your eyes open and keep watch to catch this at its peak.Lighting
I did a few different exposures so I could combine sky and land exposures.Equipment
Shot this on my (then new!) D-500, a fabulous camera. Used a good tripod, too. As I recall I used the 10-24 nikon super wide APC lens. A cheaper lens with horrible corners, but its ok here.Inspiration
DUH!Editing
yes, I combined exposures. One was optimized for the sky, and one for the foreground. In my camera bag
This day, I probably had that camera and that was about it. I may have also used a remote trigger, I dont know.Feedback
Shoot. Move. Shoot. Move Keep going. I was refining the framing as I shot. And with sunsets you never know which will have "that" light until you review. Keep shooting, that light disappears quick. Review LATER.
