In reality, there is a straw-thatched bar at the end of the boardwalk. But since the bar isn't working this late in the year, I thought I should draw something in its place; similar in shape, but maybe more interesting.

LOL; it is official you are an alien. How else could you draw it with so much detail, lol. 😜

So I'm alien and you stil think it's a drawing? 😅 Seriously, I'd like to still have CorelDraw Suite, but my legal odl version does not work on Win10, and the next version that works is way too expensive for me. So I drew it in ACDSee. Glad you like it!

Behind The Lens

Location

This view is from the Lake Ohrid shore at the "Versus" bar pier, in Struga (North Macedonia).

Time

The photo was shot on 25-Jan-21, and completed on15-Nov-21 16:53:40, so you might say it was not done until it was done.

Lighting

What the camera has dialled all by itself is: Shutter Speed 0.00052 sec, f/2.8, ISO 125, 0.00 eV, No Flash (on the camera at all), and Focal Length of 4 mm. But since the actual lighting conditions are unrepeatable, it does not really carry that much weight.

Equipment

Xiaomi Mijia YDXJ01FM Mi Action Camera was at hand for the ambiental shot - the changes were sketched-in using ACDSee tools.

Inspiration

Initially it was the attraction of this wide-angle lens applicable to this pretty ambient... and then the shape of the straw-thatched bar roof suggested something new there!

Editing

Yes, and a lot, especially the details about the drawing - but that would be different with any post-processing program, so there would be no help to anyone in describing it. In short, I drew the basic "shape" of what we think UFOs look like, and then selected the segments to apply various textures, each in its own way. The final touches, like shades and lights were added to create a semblance of "credibility". It's a photo, after all! :)

In my camera bag

For decades already I find it easier to carry a photo vest than any photo bag to take along whatever I want or need for my photo session, walk or trip. My photo bags usually stay home or in the car to keep the equipment I'm not using at the moment. My tripod has its permanent place in the car. The vest pockets usually contain two cameras, one of those is always waterproof. Sometimes I'll carry a small action camera, mainly for its wide field of view and resistance to water and weather. Other pockets keep the spare batteries, ND and CPL filters, and one small camera clamp which can be fixed to anything around, and in many cases can replace a tripod. The vest has pockets for longer lenses that usually hold a small water bottle, a sandwich, or a bar of chocolate - if I plan on being out for the whole day. I always pack about three meters length of paracord or similar strong, thin rope, one hefty pocket knife, and a lighter. Much can be improvised with these, so that's all I need. Recently I made it even easier, and take the essentials along in a waist pouch; a variable-volume McKinley. Simplicity and comfort are two best qualities for me in the Outdoors!

Feedback

The fun is in combining various things, and you should have lots of fun. It is also a good way to learn some finesse of your preferred post-processing program - whichever it is - as there are always some features we use often, and some other we rarely touch at all. But the accent will, or at least should, always be on FUN!
