Corallium rubrum, a colonial organism. One of the many sorts that has over the centuries been nigh utterly destroyed for no useful reasons; just for fashion-dictated embellishments and some superstition-supported "medical" purposes.
Coral's is just one more among so many sad stories, about illogical battle of Humans vs. Nature.
(Scanned old Fujichrome frame).

Awesome. I know how to keep this coral and I have the right conditions for it. Absolutely no light, natural sea water, low temperature, massive protein skimming and I have the right foods ... just need a colony ... I know what I'm talking about and have the experience, just need to have access to the regular fishermen and they will have a colony. This coral is not difficult to keep as long as you do it for the coral an not for ornament, and I know how ans am such a person ... ;-)
