Sonchevka or Sunfish, the colorful beaut I have found and posted up (ten photos back), seems to be more widely spread and known not only in South America or Africa.

Our friend scbenoit (Ontario, CA) wrote: "We have them here too calling them sunfish, bluegill or pumpkin seeds. So similar names to what you mention. Here these inhabit shallow weedy areas and are usually in small schools."

So, every day I learn something new... which I am always thankful for!
