"When the Last Tree Is Cut Down, the Last Fish Eaten, and the Last Stream Poisoned, You Will Realize That You Cannot Eat Money".

This saying, also attributed to the Cree and the Osage people, appeared in a collection of essays published in 1972 titled “Who is the Chairman of This Meeting?” A chapter called “Conversations with North American Indians” contained comments made by Alanis Obomsawin who was described as “an Abenaki from the Odanak reserve, seventy odd miles northeast of Montreal.” (The book uses the spelling Obomosawin.) Obomsawin employed a version of the saying while speaking with the chapter author Ted Poole.

Whosoever was the author of the original thought (Alanis Obomsawin? Prophecy of the Cree? Osage saying? Sakokwenonkwas? Greenpeace? Anonymous? Apocryphal?) was probably right...

My first thought.. before I read: Well it is obvious, the plant isn't growing in the coins. But there must be some soil under them :). Now, in every bloody text I translate a company tries to sound oh so green. No matter what they try to sell or describe. That is strange when you come from a country with 100% green energy that here they lecture you on their electric or hybid cars... but without mentioning how Belgium generates the energy. Oh the siccofants.

Well, once people get used to measure everything in money, all problems develop automatically and the Future appears to be littered with tin cans and ... don' let me delve into what replaces love. :) However, one would have to think really hard to say it better than the author[s] of the original thought.
