Location
Since we needed a lot of room to paint the gears, then to fix them to the galvanized steel sheets, and to create a complex set, we took this photo in a commercial space located in an industrial district.Time
Since we had taken an entire day to create the whole set, we had to come back the next morning to do the photoshoot, as we especially like to work at the beginning of the day.Lighting
We had a flash high up in front of Carolyn, the model of our photography duo, and a flash above the plexiglass column, to light up the BX cables and give the photography a futuristic and techno feel.Equipment
Marc-André, the photographer of our duo, used a Canon EOS R camera, in addition to Godox flashes.Inspiration

They inspired technology, ingenuity. As we also had many caps of automotive paint bottles, donated by another friend, Carolyn, who is also the stylist and creative director of the duo, thought of creating this sort of space pilot costume made of the bottle caps for the helmet and the boots, and then to stage it in a setting evoking a futuristic cockpit, with all these gears operating the flying machine on each side of the main subject.Editing
Marc-André did some beauty retouching, and added an effect that sets the perfect tone to this outer space scene.In my camera bag
We always have our Canon 24-105 mm lens, a Tamron wide angle, a Sigma 50 mm 1.4 Art, a Canon 50 mm Macro, and a Godox trigger.Feedback
Improvising and going with the flow can give very interesting results. But when there is a lot of work behind an idea, when you can feel the time, the effort invested and the attention to details in a photo, it rarely leaves indifferent. Not to mention the pride of such a mission accomplished for the creators behind so much work! So if you have an original idea that inspires you, dig it, put all the energy required to give it a professional feel, and be a perfectionist from start to finish.
