Recent view of my car engine innards, shamelessly wide open.
The problem was found in the congested catalyzer capsule. It caused a difficult cold start, followed by the overheating of the whole exhaust system, and finally the sprung manifold (being replaced here).
This defect caused some other problems related to feedback sensors and air-fuel mixture parameters. The on-board computer probably went bonkers from all the confusing input.
The patient is okay now, all the horsepowers are back in the corral, and available at beck and pedal.
You might say, after 13 years something had to give!
Anyway, gotta watch them catalyzer thingies. The fuel quality is not always what you pay for...
