Galalith (which roughly translates as "milk-stone") was among the earliest plastic materials; made of milk casein and formaldehyde.

Early dice and domino tiles, also myriad sorts of buttons were produced from galalith because it has "rich" appearance, can be highly polished, and is pleasant to touch.
