This way it has served to maybe describe a dream. :)

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was extracted out of the Paralenz camera video recorded in the Lake Ohrid (some 200 meters from the house).

Time

Date/Time of the original record was 21-Jul-20 @ 15:50:52 hours ...

Lighting

Here is what the camera has chosen: Shutter Speed 0.002004 sec, f/0.8, ISO 161, No Flash, Daylight (modified automatically, in accordance with the depth).

Equipment

PARALENZ Dive Cam, shot straight from the mask (since it is a video camera, it has several ways of mounting). This time it was fixed to the facemask frame. Thus there was no intervening with the setup, meaning no add-on accessories have been used.

Inspiration

Every dive is an inspiration in itself, and this one was no different. Now, picking a photo out of the video record is something else entirely, and I think the dreamlike quality of the part chosen here was sufficient inspiration.

Editing

Yes, there were some changes. The diver silhouette was added from another image, and then all was processed in the way that would suggest a "dream". However, one is not really allowed to dream underwater, so the whole impression here literally depends upon the post-processing. I sure am glad people liked it!

In my camera bag

For decades already I find it easier to carry a photo vest than any photo bag. So I load my photo vest with whatever I might need for my photo session, walk or trip. My photo bags usually stay home or in the car to keep the equipment I'm not using at the moment. The vest's many pockets usually contain two cameras, spare batteries, ND and CPL filters, and one small photo clamp instead of a tripod. Sometimes I'll include a small action camera, mainly for its wide field of view and resistance to water and weather. The vest has pockets for big lenses that can hold a small water bottle, a sandwich, or a bar of chocolate if I plan on being out for the whole day. I always add about three meters length of paracord or similar strong, thin rope, one hefty pocket knife, and a lighter. With these, much can be "mcgyvered" along the way, so that's all I need. Recently I make it even more comfortable for me, and take the essentials along in a waist pouch; a variable-volume McKinley. Simplicity and comfort; two best qualities for the most situations!

Feedback

This is no rocket science, once one finds the right photo or video-frame. Process it all you wish, until you see with your eyes what was previously in your mind. The most important thing is, enjoy what you do - and also have others see and recognize what made sense for you!
