Millions of shells live in our Lake, and these here look just like their edible sea cousins.
But... there's always one, right?... the lake, even this large, is a closed water volume, so its powers of self-healing are far less effective than those of the sea.
Since all kinds of shells tend to accumulate indigestible matter in their tissues, such as detergent residuals and heavy metals, these shells are not edible.
Oh, well... We don't have to eat all we see.
