It seems that an 1858 wedding in the British royal family was the first to use the Lohengrin music during the ceremony (in the opera, it's used later) and in 1915 a popular movie (silent of course) had the title Here Comes the Bride, which people "almost instantly" realized fit the music.

Cryer writes that the phrase later became the title for a play, a musical, and several more movies and successive sets of lyrics appeared. He mentions two couplets:

"Here comes the bride, friends by her side,
Wedding bells ring loud, the door opens wide"

... and ...

"Here comes the bride, all dressed in white
Sweetly, serenely, in soft glowing light."

But he remarks: "Any suggestion of words to the famous tune generally brings a ribald response." What they usually sung where I went to school is

"Here comes the bride, all dressed in pink.
Open the windows and let out the stink."
