Strong wind action deposits and sculpts thick ice layers over anything jutting out of the lake these days. Air temperatures are around -15C (5F), while lake water still manages +6C (42.8F).
One among many curious facts about Lake Ohrid is that it never freezes, despite occasional polar-grade winter temperatures... but this winter, some ice did form in the shallows at some places.
