True; we see more by walking than riding, although people often travel far and wide and at speed "to see"... the whole huge industry of it being called Tourism.
I had a friend who once bought a speedboat, six meters of sleek with 270HP engine built in. There were three seats - the rest was the engine in the stern and a great big gasoline tank in the prow.
He used it enthusiastically for one summer, and then sold it. Later that year he bought a "passara", an open fishing boat with 4HP outboard.
His reasons were, "I did 35 knots and only saw capes. Now I do 5 knots and see everything."
