Location
This photo was taken at Spurn Point, near Hull on the East Yorkshire coast, United Kingdom.Time
It was taken around first light 4am ish.Lighting
The lighting was all natural with no flash.Equipment
It was shot on a Nikon D810 with a 14-24mm lens and Neutral density filter. I also used a Manfrotto tripod too.Inspiration
I just love the coast and it's constant changing patterns of waves washing across the beach and wanted to capture some of that movement with the spine like wooden structures in the back ground. I choose morning time for a more emotional feel.Editing
In post processing I converted to black and white to create a cleaner image and dodged and burnt using the history tool set to multiply or screen to shape the overall tones a bit.In my camera bag
My kit comprises of a Nikon D810, Nikon D800E, Nikon f2.8 14-24mm lens, Nikon f2.8 24-70mm lens, Nikon f4 70-200mm lens and 3 Nikon SB910 flashguns.Feedback
Patience...look and consider what you are seeing... really take your time to find the perfect shape for composition. Waves washing back from the beach often look more attractive retreating then coming in. Make sure you have footwear that you don't mind getting wet. Personally I like to have a foreground element to take the eye through the image from foreground to back ground for a greater sense of depth, movement and interest.
