Behind The Lens

Location
This image was taken at the new resource centre, Hymers College, Hull.
Time
This was taken around mid day.
Lighting
The lighting was the ambient lighting from led's in the library. The spiral stairwell forms a central feature.
Equipment
Nikon D810, 14-24mm lens. Gitzo Series 4 tripod.
Inspiration
I was at the college to capture images for the construction company PDR Construction Ltd.
Editing
This is two images blended together. I shot one focused on the stairs then a second shot focused on the foreground rail. I removed all colours except the yellow of the staircase to isolate it.
In my camera bag
I normally carry a Nikon D810, Nikon D800E back up body, Nikon 14-24mm lens f2.8 lens,Nikon f2.8 24-70mm lens, Nikon f4 70-200mm lens. Gitzo Tripod. 3 x Nikon SB910 flash guns.
Feedback
Carefully survey the subject through your camera hand held until you find the composition that excites you most. Then set the tripod up to facilitate this position. Use as low ISO as possible and f8 to maximise the quality....very carefully adjust the focusing for the closer shot. Note with a 14-24mm lens the second shot is slightly distorted by refocusing but after aligning the image layers in photoshop there is just a slight crop needed so allow for this in the framing process. My best tip is if it doesn't get you excited whilst viewing it through the camera don't take it and keep searching for a better angle.
