I can almost picture the horse and carriage going down this little road. Great shot.

Location
My wife and i decided to stay in York overnight on boxing day last year so my wife could hit the sales and I would be able to get up early so I could shoot the shambles an iconic busy street early in the morning when i could have it all to myselfTime
I got up about six thirty and it was about a twenty minute walk to the shambles, I remember crossing the river ouse which had burst its banks York was in full flood the emergency services were out rescuing poeple I arrived at the Shambles at about seven then tryed a few different compositions finally capturing this image at 7:20amLighting
the light was quite difficult so I took two images firstly exposing for the full scene then one for the streetlight so i could blend the images in photoshopEquipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EF17-40mm f/4L USM, tripod, cable releaseInspiration
Ihave visited this street many times but during the day and early evening theres always toomany people about so I decided to make use of the overnight stay to get there early and have the street to myself and the festive lights were a bonusEditing
I imported the images ito lightroom and first of all I go to lense corrections in the develop module and click the two boxes remove chromatic abberation and enable profile corrections then I corrected the upright perspective in transform, in Basic I reduced exposure to -0.36 highlights were set to -100 shadows to +100. whites and blacks i usually just pres shift and double click the sliders then I set clarity to +10 and vibrance to -57 after this i went to tone curve for some minor adjustments then to detail here I set sharpening at 139, masking at 100, luminance at 40 and colour at 70 then I exported to photoshop where i merged the streetlight from another image using a layer mask and the brush tool some slight levels adjustments and check for dustspots and that was itIn my camera bag

This shot was all about getting my location all to myself so an early morning visit worked really well with the bonus of all the christmas lights that added to the atmosphere, for me it was just being there early
