Very nice. Reflections grow big in the cold country. The white balance is great as is the composition. I would have blurred the background a little less. Love that harmless little man eating polar bear. Love the floating away theme too.

The thoughts of this picture is climate change and the tough survival in nature. The reflection (mom) had 3 cubs and 2 of them died (one of hunger and one from a male polar bear). A few weeks later i found the mom and the cub. I saw the cub on an iceberg and the mom on a different iceberg hunting for food. I took the picture of the cub from a boat using a 70mm lense an the mom using a zoom of 150mm. I used low ISO settings (100) and 5.6 and 8 aperture. Expore 1/250 and 500sek.
I already had the idea and composed this pictures using Photoshop.
Camera: Canon 5Ds.

Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken close to Negribreen, Svalbard Archipelago.
Time
Woke up early this day to go for a trip far away from Longyearbyen. Heard a rumour about a Polarbear with a cub. This shoot's were made between 3-4pm were i saw the cub on an iceberg and the mom on a different iceberg behind hunting for selskapet.
Lighting
I wanted this image to be an explanation about the tough nature and the global warming. This polarbear had 3 cubs. One of them got killer by a male polarbear and the second one did because of starvation. So my idea in this photo was to make a reflection of the cub as a grown up, meaning the future starts today and to be strong and learn from your mom!
Equipment
The camera used is the Canon 5ds where the cub is take with the Canon 16-35mm from a boat. The reflection (mom) is taken with canon 800mm on a manfrotto tripod.
Inspiration
I've always been inspired by polar bears and general wildlife. Theres alot of good photographers out there so this time i got inspirer by global warming and after some thinking i got this idea. I managed to complete the photo within 2 weeks later.
Editing
This photo contain 2 images where i cut in the reflection (mom) in photoshop. Blurred the background quite hard to maintain the focus on the polar bear. Other than that i did some small adjustments in camera raw.
In my camera bag
Standard setup for my camera bag is: Canon 5ds, canon 16-35mm, canon 70-200mm, hour adjustable nd filter, remote control, extra batteries and memory cards.
Feedback
As a photographer located in the Arctic its very important to plan ahead. Know youre camera and youre equipment. When temperatures drop to -30 celsius you simply dont have time to fool around. Youre fingers will freeze in seconds! Dress warm, be prepared and look for depth of Field.
