Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best photos showing cold weather in the It Is Cold Outside Photo Contest with chances to win a Apple Watch and more!

"I confess that I was gobsmacked by the quality of the entries into this contest!  There were so many excellent images that many professionals would be proud to have in their own portfolios.  In order to choose a winner and the runner-ups, I used several criteria beyond the obvious that the technical aspects, such as exposure, had to be perfect.  The first was, “ Is there something unique about this image, or is it a repeat of images that are already commonly available?” Second was “Does it seem likely that this is the best possible image the photographer could have made in that situation?” Third was “Is there anything distracting in the image?”  The winning image, “The Howl of Winter” is absolutely stunning.  The composition and technical aspects are perfect, and the exquisite lighting and use of color puts it over the top. I was impressed by how carefully the photographer framed the trees so that they commandingly framed the subject rather than compete with it." - Ellen Anon
