"Wow! There were some really wonderful images for this theme of Layered Compositions. Scrolling through the all of the finalist’s images, there were a couple of images that made me stop right away to take a deeper look. I was looking for images with layers that would lead my eye to the main subject. There were so many great finalists, but I had to narrow them down by really looking at the technical and artistic details in each image. Here are my selections." - Laurie Rubin

"This beautiful image, looking through a cave of ice past the row of trees to the grand mountains beyond took my breath away! This is such a great example of a layered composition that really leads the viewer’s eye through the image. Beautifully framed by the ice cave with gorgeous tones throughout. This really makes me feel as if I was there. Very well done! Congratulations!" - Laurie Rubin
"What a magnificent image of layered sand dunes with lovely patterns and shadows and warm colors throughout. I also kept coming back to this image because it was so masterfully done! The person standing onto of the dune was perfectly placed since the waves of the dune in the foreground weaved it’s way up to the subject. This is a fantastic image!" - Laurie Rubin
