Utterly neglected during out-of-season times, the swimming pool doesn't exactly appear attractive - except for photography. Come tourist season, it will sparkle clean and inviting... but one wonders whether there was any reason (save laziness) to leave it in this condition, even during winter?

I believe this an algae bloom.If you make a splash in the water on a clear moonlit night you may get an unbelievable phosphorescent light show.

Well, this is a scanned film slide, and true, the algae is blooming but not in the visually beautiful way that you describe. :)

This was photographed years before any smartphones, and the film frame was later scanned with the scanners available at the time. But the greens are pretty accurate, as far as I can recall.
