Location
Photo was taken in Croatian region named Lika, known for rough terrain and good food; also for its harsh winters and scorching summers. I was taking a shortcut between two paved roads by going over some hills, and while taking photos of the beautiful landscape, I also took this shot of my Niva.Time
It was April 2008, at 11:11:43 hours.Lighting
Daylight, and almost noon, but the weather was somewhat hazy (which is nice for harsh contrast reducement and good rendering of color).Equipment
The camera was a Sony R-1, an excellent old model. Image was shot out of hand with no added equipment of any sort.Inspiration
Climbing to hard-to-reach places to enjoy beautiful views (and especially in places like Lika), one can't forget to appreciate the vehicle which gets you there. So, Niva does deserve to be photographed at such spots, because it is not for nothing that it counts among the World's best all-terrain cars. I'd suggest you look up Lada Niva on the net for more information! It is a veritable photo-mule, best designed for two persons with all their photo and camping gear. I have driven Nivas through the snow, over all kinds of rock, mud and ice, and also in the sands of Sahara. Never had any problems.Editing
Nothing worthy of special mention, except maybe cropping... The image is as much genuine as Sony R-1 sees it.In my camera bag
I'm using photo vest with million pockets instead of the bag. The usual contents in the pockets will be a set of ND filters, a CPL filter, spare batteries, a camera clamp that I use instead of a tripod (OK, I had one tripod in the car here but did not feel the need to use it). Then there will be a pocket knife, a length of all-purpose string and some firemaker... That's about it. One can improvise a lot with a few well-chosen things.Feedback
There are many ways to photograph cars - many folks even specialise in it. If you take photos of cars, I'd suggest you take such photos at places which correspond with that car specialties. With Niva (and many other 4WDs) it would normally be somewhere offroad. Make lots of pictures! And enjoy!
