Location
There is a pier jutting into Lake Ohrid near to where I live, and on its end there is a straw-covered bar-kiosk. This doggie just arrived to the sunny side and threw a nice shadow...Time
It was mid January at 14:06 hours, which in winter counts as "afternoon".Lighting
Lovely daylight on this bright, fresh winter day, and no other lightsources. ISO 64, aperture 7.1, shutter speed 1/250sec.Equipment
Photo was made with Sony F-828, out of hand. No other equipment was necessary.Inspiration
Low Sun and nice shadow was my main inspiration, and I photographed many themes offered by the lake shore on that walk. But the idea to manipulate it came later, when I saw it on the larger screen. I suspect, the shadow shape helped a lot.Editing
I think I have darkened the shiny kiosk surface a bit, and also re-cropped the whole frame, but not by much. After that, it was just this little add-on to make you smile. In my camera bag
My photo vest pockets can hold all I need even for long photo walks, so I do not need a photo bag. There will be a "main" camera, the "spare" one (usually a watertight P&S), some ND filters and a CPL, spare batteries, a camera clamp, a length of paracord, a pocket knife, a lighter. Bar of chocolate or a sandwich and small water bottle might be along too, but only if I plan to stay out the whole day.Feedback
Walk slowly, look at everything around you. Notice everything large or small. Take many pictures! You never know how successful your photos may be until you see them later, on the large monitor. If your photographing area offers many various themes that may unexpectedly jump at you - from landscapes and panoramas thru macro details - consider trying a bridge camera. Many a time just fumbling for a different lens will cost you a good shot(s), while a bridge camera is one-in-all package which easily adapts to the situation. But then, whatever camera you use - shoot a lot! :)
