Behind The Lens

Location

At one of our terrace flowerpots.

Time

13:15:01

Lighting

Natural daylight, reflected and original objects.

Equipment

OLYMPUS TG-2, hand-held. The reflective surface behind the flower is actually the inside of the quick-food container cover; a piece of cardboard lined with aluminum foil.

Inspiration

Long ago there was a lady photographer whose name escapes me. She did the photos of reflected objects using aluminum foil, usually slightly crumpled for this kind of effect. I happened to recall it for some reason; probably the foodbox cover provoked the memory of it. So I gave it a try.

Editing

Only the usual routine...

In my camera bag

Two cameras... Ye Gods, I have typed this so many times already, it became tiring. Should I have had this part of the questionnaire copy/pasted? ;)

Feedback

Use the foodbox cover as I did, or the inside of the cracker bag, or simply wrap some stiff cardboard in aluminum foil. There are many ways to prepare the surface of the foil in many creative ways: crumple it, thumb-press holes in it, sprinkle or spray it with water, paint... There is no end to experimenting. Pick some easily recognized theme and take photos of the reflections only. It's also a nice project for tabletop photography in wintertime!
