Surprising the watersnake in open water sometimes makes him crash dive and seek a hiding place among the bottom rocks and vegetation. To get down as quick as possible, snake will exhale; to achieve negative buoyancy, and sink. Even without air, snakes can stay submerged for more than 10 minutes.

The watersnakes are incredibly elegant in the water, far more so than any snake on dry land. They are also sometimes very inquisitive beings, letting me come pretty close to take a photo. Sometimes they'd even climb over my mask, head and shoulders. The privilege of having a wild animal in its natural ambient not fear me is very complimentary to me, and I enjoy it with gratitude.Editing
Only have put the picture through auto color / contrast routine, and reframed by cropping. Re-sized for upload, then re-sharpened a tad.In my camera bag
In the water, I'll usually have the basic snorkeling equipment, and my underwater cameras have an added buttonlike disk to the safety strap around my wrist. I keep this "button" on the upper side of my camera-holding fingers, to brace against and achieve a positive grip. Underwater amphibious cameras do not have much of a handgrip, and this helps me work the commands one-handedly.Feedback
Keep it safe and simple. With animals in the water, the key to success is not to emit neither fear nor "hunting" thoughts. All the animals can sense what your intentions are, and your thoughts will work either for you, or against you! The rest is to be patient and not force anything. Water is to be respected at all times!
