Location
I live in Enkhuizen, an old harbour city near the biggest natural lake of Europe; the IJsselmeer. I took this photo just outside the harbour on a hazy sunday morning.Time
It was about 2 PM, I was walking with my wife along the dikes of the IJsselmeer when I saw this sailing ship in an seemingly endless lake.Lighting
It was a hazy sunday morning and the natural light was just perfect for the kind of photo I wanted to take.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ100, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera...The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket.Inspiration
As we were walking along the dike I saw this sailing boat floating in a world with hardly any horizon. The peaceful grey loneliness inspired me to make this photo. There was hardly any wind and the silence was wonderful... a single bird finished the composition.Editing
I hardly did any post-processing because I like very much the idea of natural photos... I only enhanced the accents a bit and I cropped the photo to the size and composition I liked most.In my camera bag
I don't have a bag of equipment at all, only my Lumix DMC-TZ60, a wonderful intelligent automatic pocketcamera wich practically fits in my backpocket. It shows that you do not have to use expensive and big cameras to achieve nice results...Feedback
To capture an image like this is not very difficult at all, just look around you and be bewondered about the beautiful world we are living in. I try to look through a pinhole, without forgetting the whole picture. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you got home and opened your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
