Location
I took this photo when my husband and I were ridding around Lake Ontario N.Y. we like to take day trips to see what beauty we can find there's always something new just around the corner.Time
This was around 2:00 p.m.Lighting
The lighting wasn't very good the sun was shinning to much on the birds making the swans to white for a good shot not letting me see a lot of detail in the feathers so i had to do a little processing to bring out more detail.Equipment
I used my camera that I had at the time a canon 50D and i used a 100mm to 400mm lens to catch the shot I didn't use a tripod i just took the shot free handed.Inspiration
I enjoy nature and landscape photography it's the biggest thrill for me to capture an animal in it's natural environment doing what it can to live it's life, this was the first time that i had gotten just the right spot of the beautiful swans doing there dance each.Editing
I did do some processing to get just the right look, first the lighting was wrong so I cropped out some of the background bringing the swans closer in then I darkened the area around them to soften the background and bring out more of the white then i sharpened the picture and highlighted and enhanced it.In my camera bag
I like to travel light so most of the time i just have my new camera the 70D and my 150mm to 600mm lens to really bring the subject in and for the closer shots my 18mm to 135mm lens i never use tripods they just slow me down.Feedback
I live in N.Y. and my husband and I have traveled all around the east coast and have seen many beautiful things most of the time we find things to shoot that we didn't plane to find when I tool this shot I wasn't even looking for the swans they were just there I think my advice would be is too just get out and explore your surroundings you don't even have to go very far you never know what you might find right around the corner, try new things there's never a bad shot it's how you felt when you took the shot, it's your memory.
