These are the garden bred variety Ipomoea, in the wild they grow mostly pure white. And are seen as weeds, When I was a kid we used to seek out patches of the wild white ones, and squeeze the base quickly and they;d gently glide to the ground. We used to call them the parachute plants! For what is known as a weeds in the wild, they are quite extraordinary plants. There are several different varieties, one variety only blooms at night in the Northern Hemispheres, and all as far as I know, have seeds with hallucinogenic properties. Back in the early 60's when LSD was still legal, the seeds were known as house wifes ruin! As many bored house wives were ingesting the seeds, and ending up in A&E departments having powerful Hallucinations! Ahhh, those were the days. lol
