This was taken at Ukumehame Beach Park on the island of Maui. It is one of my favorite places to work on improving my photography.Time
This dead tree has been here for years. It is one of my favorite things to photograph in this park. I took this about 6:15 pm as the sun was setting behind Lanai.Lighting
Every time I visit Ukumehame Park the lighting is different. I was fascinated with how the sun was highlighting the clouds.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon Z7_2. I was using a NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR lens with a variable ND filter. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripodInspiration
I was inspired by the lighting of the setting sun on the clouds along with the reflection of the sun in the water.Editing
I used Lightroom to set the white and black points. I adjusted the highlights and shadows and increased the vibrance. In my camera bag
I always pack my Nikon Z7_2 which is light weight and easy to use. I am not a fan of having to constantly change lenses so I take my NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR lens. My pack also contains a selection of Neutral Density filters along with a Circular Polarizing filter. Depending on where I am going to photograph I also take one of my Manfrotto tripodsFeedback
My time working in photography has taught me patience. Don't be limited by thinking you have to get a great photo the first time. I took multiple photos of this scene using different settings on the ND filter and shutter speeds. Several of the photos turned out great each evoking a different mood. This one is my favorite.
