On my trip to Maui, I was walking back down the beach after watching the evening cliff diving ceremony at black rock. I looked over through the palm trees and the sun was just setting between two of the trees. I walked back into the courtyard of the hotel and took this photo.

I took this picture while standing in the courtyard of the Ka`anapali Beach Hotel on one of my trips to the island of Maui.Time
It was about 6:30 in the evening and the sun wast starting to set behind the island of Lanai. We had a line of rain move though earlier in the day so there were some clouds around to add interest and color to the scene.Lighting
I took this using the natural light.Equipment
I took this using my Nikon Coolpix P510 camera. I had it steady on my tripod and set the camera to a 2 second shutter delay to make sure there was not camera shake.Inspiration
I love Hawaii and the sunset there are wonderful. I had walked up the beach to watch the cliff diving ceremony and was walking back to my room when I noticed the sun setting between the trees which I had never photographed before. It is not one of my favorite photos of the island.Editing
My Nikon P510 save files as JPEGs. I use Lightroom 5 for the post processing. I set the white and black points and increased the contrast slightly to bring out the colors. In my camera bag
I carry with me my Nikon P510 & P900 cameras with which I can easily take macro to telescopic photos. I carry two 8 x10 pieces of foam board. One is black and one is white on one side and aluminum foil attached to the other to affect the lighting. I take my tripod and my case containing my adapter and UV, CPL, FLD and Neutral Density Filters.Feedback
