This scene was set in the gardeners cottage at the Missouri Botanical Garden. It had an old time feel to the setting.

I took this photo while attending the Garden Glow at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Every year the garden decorates the gardenes' house with a holiday display. It always reminds me of a simpler time.Time
This photo was taken during the golden hour the sun had just set. I adjusted the ISO up to be able to get the shot.Lighting
There was lighted garland around the roof of the house casting a soft glow around the window. The lights in the tree had just came on.I love the shadow of the toys in the window with the train circling the tree. It added to the nostalgic feel of the sceneEquipment
I took this photo with my Nikon Coolpix P510 and had it set on my tripod. To eliminate camera shake I use a 2 second self timer on the shutter release.Inspiration
At my age nostalgic scenes of simpler times bring back happy memories of my childhood. Not knowing what would be left under the tree Christmas morning. Toys that let you use your imagination.Editing
The Nikon P510 saves photos in JPEG. I use Lightroom to do my post processing. I cropped the photo to make the window scene the center of attention and set the white & black balance points. I also used the noise reduction feature since I used a higher ISO to get the shot.In my camera bag
I carry with me my Nikon P510 & P900 cameras with which I can easily take macro to telescopic photos. I carry two 8 x10 pieces of foam board. One is black and one is white on one side and aluminum foil attached to the other to affect the lighting. I take my tripod and my case containing my adapter and UV, CPL, FLD and Neutral Density Filters.Feedback
Take your time and don't be afraid to make changes to your camera settings until you get the photo you can see in your minds eye.
